I\'ve got enough time in my life to tune skis (9 pairs these days), but not enough time to tune for conditions. So the Medium is my go to for structuring and flattening all those bases. I recondition the medium bar using 80-grit sandpaper on the black-bar faces (remark periodically as the bar gets smaller). After using the medium bar and getting some nice structure in place, I use the steel bar to cut off any hairs.

I generally use the SkiVisions edge tuning tool with the hard chrome files to take down the edges and a bit of the base next to the edges, then use the base flattener with the medium stone to bring the base down to match the edges.

It\'s pretty cool to see the difference in base materials from ski to ski and how they respond to the stone.
