Lasso vs Conventional Clamping Vises

Conventional clamping type vises are tried and true for a long time and are the preference for many ‘old school’ tuners. With the advent of sloped side walls, fat skis and snowboards, the width and grip of side clamping vises may not provide a secure purchase on skis and impossible for snow boards. Friction board supports work well up to a point, but adding the highly versatile and limitless shaping capabilities of a lasso clamp type vise or adding the lasso clamp to your existing set up provides a reliable and secure grip to ski and snowboards by conforming to any binding type. It’ll work for Telemark, AT, Nordic/XC skis, Splitboards as well as Alpine skis and Snowboards. Often, we receive calls for recommendations for replacing conventional vises since the skis keep popping out while scraping, etc or they no longer work for wider skis.
