At first a bit intimidated by the prospect of doing my own tuning, the resources and information on this blog walked me right through the process without a hitch. I’m definitely going to upgrade my tuning tools as I found the activity to be a bit addictive but the Super Station paid for itself two times over in the first week alone. If you are just starting to consider tuning your own gear and are as confused as I am over the dizzying array of pieces and parts, I recommend starting with this kit; you won’t regret it. My next must-have tool will be a vice as soon as I figure out which one is best for my needs.

After doing 6 pair of skis including two pair that required P-Tex repairs, I figure I saved at least double what it would have cost at a shop and was a lot more fun.

My little J5 racer also placed in the top 3 on one of my (our) tunes which was a bonus. The tuning activity also allows me to introduce my kids to the art of tuning and instill the sense of pride, responsibility and appreciation that comes from maintaining their own equipment.

After 4 long days at Alta, the bases still looked great, so durability is very good too. In fact, I left my skis out there for my next trip, partially due to the fact that I didn’t feel the need to bring them home for another wax.
