It rises from close to sea level to over 3000 feet. Lance Armstrong has made this mountain famous by timing himself to the top each year just prior to the start of the Tour de France. His goal was to break 31 minutes. He did so in 1999 and went on to win his first Tour. Six years later, Tom broke Lance’s record by 23 seconds.
